Hello everyone! Today may be April Fool’s day but the work we are putting in is no joke. It has been a full week of events and activities from a fundraiser in Tri Cities, to virtual meet and greet in Douglas County hosted by the Democratic County Chair Karen Keleman, followed by travel to Okanogan for two days of campaigning. During all of this we kept dialing the phone to keep our phone banking and fundraising calls humming. This week alone I made about 2,000 calls to supporters of this campaign and met many more.
¡Hola, todos! Hoy podría ser el día de los inocentes, pero el trabajo que estamos realizando no es broma. Ha sido una semana completa de eventos y actividades, desde una recaudación de fondos en Tri Cities hasta un encuentro y saludo virtual en el condado de Douglas organizado por la presidenta demócrata del condado, Karen Keleman. A eso le siguió un viaje a Okanogan para dos días de campaña. Durante todo esto nos mantuvimos en el teléfono para mantener las llamadas. Solo esta semana hice unas 2000 llamadas a la comunidad de esta campaña y conocí a mucha gente.
Justin Raffa is well known in the Tri Cities. He is a champion of the people and an important pillar of the arts community. He and Molly opened their home for my campaign and, as expected, there was a stellar group of well informed and politically dedicated people on hand.

Wednesday started very early in the dark of the morning. I was off for two days in Okanogan. First stop was Tonasket where we stayed as guests of Chris at the Red Apple Inn. Chris knows everyone and everything about Tonasket, stop by and stay or just say hello when you are there. The first day was door knocking. The streets of Tonasket are not many, but they are filled with warm and generous people. We then met more people at the Community Cultural Center, a beautifully renovated old tire store that serves as the hub of the community. There we ate pizza and talked about the issues, concerns and made plans for how we will work together to insure that over the next few years we can make substantial improvements to the lives of the people in Okanogan.
El miércoles comenzó muy temprano en la oscuridad de la mañana. Estuve fuera por dos días en Okanogan. Primero en Tonasket donde nos hospedamos como invitados de Chris en el Red Apple Inn. Chris conoce a todos y todo acerca de Tonasket, pasa y quédate o simplemente saluda cuando estés allí. El primer día fue tocar puertas. Las calles de Tonasket no son muchas, pero están llenas de gente cálida y generosa. Luego conocimos a más personas en el Centro Cultural Comunitario, una tienda de llantas viejas hermosamente renovada que sirve como el centro de la comunidad. Allí comimos pizza y hablamos sobre los problemas, preocupaciones e hicimos planes sobre cómo trabajaremos juntos para asegurarnos de que durante los próximos años podamos lograr mejoras sustanciales en la vida de las personas de Okanogan.
Thursday was another big day in Winthrop/Twisp. I met with people in the community on how to improve our outreach by finding ways to arrange listening sessions so I could fully understand the needs of the residents. We had a visit from a member of the DNC and had a good, first of many, conversation on how to refine our messaging. My platform is strong, but we must always be aware that it must be clearly said and finding the best words is sometimes hard to do. The Twisp Grange came to life that evening as it filled up with people to attend our first in-person Town Hall. We also live streamed on Zoom and Facebook Live and it was our largest attended event to date. There were many good questions, but more importantly, people shared their thoughts and advice on what they wanted from a Representative and their priorities. I always learn so much by listening to others. A big thank you to Katie Haven for organizing the event for us.
El jueves fue otro gran día en Winthrop y Twisp. Me reuní con personas de la comunidad sobre cómo mejorar nuestro alcance al encontrar formas de organizar sesiones de escucha. Quiero entender completamente las necesidades de los residentes. Recibimos la visita de un miembro del DNC y tuvimos la primera de muchas buenas conversaciones sobre cómo refinar nuestros mensajes. Mi plataforma es sólida, pero siempre debemos ser conscientes de que debe ser clara y, a veces, es difícil encontrar las mejores palabras. El Twisp Grange se despertó esa noche cuando se llenó de personas para asistir a nuestro primer Ayuntamiento en persona. También transmitimos en vivo por Zoom y Facebook Live y fue nuestro evento con mayor asistencia hasta la fecha. Hubo muchas buenas preguntas, pero lo que es más importante, las personas compartieron sus pensamientos y consejos sobre lo que querían de un Representante y sus prioridades. We’ll have door-to-door outreach in Yakima: April 2nd and April 30th; and door-to-door outreach in Tri-Cities: April 9th and 24th.
